15 years. 5,000+ patients. 10 locations. One relentless mission: to end unnecessary TMJ suffering.
Elaine Ruz is a licensed physiotherapist with over 15 years of specialized experience in TMJ and orofacial pain. Born and trained in Brazil, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at Parana North University in 2004, followed by a residency with the American Academy of Craniofacial Disorders working with pediatric patients.
In 2014, Elaine moved to Canada and joined West Park Healthcare Centre in Toronto — one of the country's leading rehabilitation hospitals — where she deepened her expertise treating complex musculoskeletal cases. It was here that she realized the gap: TMJ was consistently undertreated, misdiagnosed, and misunderstood across the entire healthcare system.
In 2015, Elaine opened her first solo clinic in Toronto. By 2018, she had treated her 1,000th TMJ patient — and had built a reputation unlike any other specialist in the country. Word spread fast. Patients were travelling from Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, and Montreal for a single assessment.
In 2023, Elaine founded UniPhysio and expanded to Oakville. Through 2024, she opened five more locations. Today, UniPhysio operates 10 clinics across Canada, and Elaine's YouTube channel has grown to over 127,000 subscribers — making her one of the most recognized voices in TMJ education in North America.
I'd spent years trying everything — dental procedures, hypnotherapy, Invisalign, therapy, specialist after specialist. By the time I had my wisdom teeth out for the Nth time, I was out of options and nearly out of hope. A friend mentioned Elaine almost as a passing thought. I didn't expect much.
After our first consultation, something was different. She didn't just treat my jaw — she explained the entire system. The real underlying cause. What was actually happening. Over the next year, she completely changed my life. I am 100% pain free today.
I've since partnered with Elaine to help expand her practice, because what she does is too important to stay in one office.
